Andrea Green Paralympic Canoe Double Gold medalist

 

DERBY athlete Andrea Green is determined to get to the 2016 Paralympic Games one way or another.

Green, from Littleover, represented Team GB at last summer’s games as a member of the sitting volleyball team, who were making their debut in the Paralympic Games.  However, the fledgling team suffered a financial blow when, in December last year, UK Sport cut GB sitting volleyball’s grant from £800,000 to nothing.

Sensing the chance to represent her country again was being taken away from her, Green, along with another member of the GB sitting volleyball team, Emma Wiggs, took up canoeing – and is now a world champion less than 12 months since taking up the sport.By Kerry Ganly
